Sources and limitations. Presidential Electoral College totals and state-by-state votes for 1924–2024 come from the U.S. National Archives official Electoral College records. Older U.S. Senate and House results are compiled from Open Source Election, a historical secondary dataset derived from election results tables. Older governor winners are compiled from gubernatorial election summaries. For official U.S. House statistics, consult the Office of the Clerk. House district results are loaded from the MIT Election Data and Science Lab House constituency dataset (1976–2024), publicly hosted by The Congressional Representation Project. See the Federal Election Commission's election-results resources. House districts reflect the boundaries and seat arrangements used during each election year. In early years some states elected multiple at-large representatives; older source coverage is incomplete for some districts. Presidential maps show electoral votes actually cast, including third-party and faithless-elector votes when recorded. They do not display state popular-vote percentages or victory margins. 2020 Senate results include the January 2021 Georgia runoff elections. These are historical results, not forecasts. Senate and governor maps show the races actually held in each year, rather than all incumbent senators or governors.
